Mitchell Leads Association of Environmental Planners Central Valley Workshop
Dave Mitchell, MBA's Fresno Branch Manager and Air Quality Services Manager, co-lead a panel presentation addressing climate change and CEQA for the Association of Environmental Professionals Spring Advanced CEQA Workshop in Central California. The event, held May 20th in Fresno included a CEQA case law and legislative update and climate change sessions. Dave co-lead a session that covered amendments to the current CEQA guidelines, thresholds for Greenhouse Gas Emissions, and ramifications for General Plans which do not address Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The workshop also included a session entitled, "Addressing Climate Change and New Guidelines" where he presented guidance to attendees on preparing climate change/greenhouse gas sections in environmental documents.
Holm Addresses Urban Planners on Climate Action Planning
MBA’s Southern California Vice President, Thomas F. Holm, AICP, spoke at the 2009 Leon Hoffman Urban Technology Symposium on "Transportation and Land Use Strategies in Climate Action Planning" at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. The event, which included a distinguished panel of speakers from both public service and academia, was sponsored by the Lewis Center for Regional Policy Studies, the Department of Urban Planning, and the Southern California Association of Governments.
Brandman Presents at City of San Ramon Workshop
MBA Vice President Jason Brandman was a featured presenter at the Tri-Valley Planner's Training Series hosted by the City of San Ramon. The title of the presentation was, "Looking forward to an SB 375 Future." Todd Williams from Morgan, Miller and Blair also spoke at the workshop.
Viricel Tackles "The Business of Politics"
MBA's Client Services Director, Anne Viricel, PhD, spoke at the CREW Inland Empire Spring 2009 workshop as part of a panel on "The Business of Politics." The panel tackled issues relating to commercial development in the region's rapidly changing local and state political climate. Fellow panelists included Neil Blais (Blais & Associates), Todd Hooks (Economic Development Director of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians). Christine Iger, President of Iger & Associates) moderated the panel.
