Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs and directs performance of Section 404 wetland delineation – both simple vegetation examinations and full three-parameter testing – in accordance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) regulations and the USACE Wetland Delineation Manual. Determines jurisdictional limits of various laws and regulations including Section 404 and 401 of the Clean Water Act; Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act; Section 103 of the Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act; and Section 1601/1603 of the California Fish and Game code. Advises client regarding legal approaches to reducing and/or avoiding agency jurisdiction, and the advisability of so doing. Educates client in permit processes; advises client as to project design approaches that will minimize regulatory burden, and recommends course of action. Develops scopes of work for regulatory related projects, calculates project budgets and fees, and develops project schedules. Writes and supervises writing of environmental assessments and environmental impact statements in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and USACE regulations. Coordinates with USACE, RWQCB, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), National Marine Fisheries Service, California Department of Fish and Game (CDFG), and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) prior to and throughout the permitting process via meetings, telephone calls, and letters. Assesses and directs assessment of impacts related to project implementation and manages project team in development of appropriate mitigation in accordance with agency regulations and policy, and in accordance with client objectives, including development of Conceptual Mitigation Plan. Coordinates consideration of endangered species issues with FWS and writes, or manages writing of biological assessments used to initiate formal consultation between USACE and FWS in accordance with Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act. Prepares 404(b)(1) evaluations (including alternatives analyses) in accordance with EPA regulations and USACE policy. Develops and implements Conceptual Mitigation Plans and monitoring requirements.

Business Development
Assists in marketing of MBA’s regulatory services through interaction with potential clients, active participation in appropriate organizations, preparation or review of news releases and articles, presentations at professional meetings, and other promotional activities. Prepares and oversees preparation of contract proposals for review and signatures or Principal-In-Charge and Section Manager.

Administrative/Financial
Keeps Section Manager fully informed of all project and business development matters. Maintains conformance with assigned level of personal chargeability. Prepares for submittal to Section Manager weekly workload projections. Monitors and assures conformance to project budgets and schedules, and reviews information with Section Manager and project team members. Senior Biologist

General Description:
The Senior Biologist (or Senior Scientist) lends his/her technical expertise to a staff of biologists, landscape architects, habitat restoration specialists and ecologists, trains biology staff in all levels of scientific endeavor, and is responsible for final review of all technical reports generated by biological resources staff.  He or she, therefore, must demonstrate strong technical skills and be well versed in the local flora and fauna, basic scientific principles, and local, state, and federal regulations governing the protection and management of biological services. The Biological Services Senior Biologist is expected to maintain an interactive relationship with MBA's staff biologists, executive officers, and clientele. He or she must possess sound professional skills, and must develop a thorough understanding of and commitment to MBA's policies and goals. The person in this position must constantly strive to improve the productivity of the biological services staff while maintaining the highest standards of product quality.

Duties & Responsibilities
Technical
• Directs the performance of biological field studies that relate to site characterization, baseline assessment, sensitive species surveys, impact analysis, mitigation program development, habitat restoration, habitat conservation plans, and resource management.
• Performs biological service assessments for large, complex, or highly sensitive projects; maintains client contact, and serves as liaison between client, public agencies, and subconsultants.

General Description:
Performs environmental analysis and provides documentation support for environmental impact reports (EIRs) on a variety of subject areas, including land use, socio-economics, earth resources, hydrology, air quality, noise, cultural resources, etc. Provide general support in environmental document preparation.

•Support project managers with appropriate research information in order to respond to project documentation requirements.
•Ensure the requirements of CEQA and NEPA are met by completing analysis and documentation within specific guidelines.
•Gain practical knowledge of the environmental consulting industry.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative
•Support senior staff, as needed, in administrative functions.

Financial
•Perform project assignments within established budgets.
•Assist senior staff in a timely and efficient manner.

Technical/Quality Assurance
•Provide assistance to project managers in the preparation, organization, and production of EIRs.
•Incorporate subconsultant reports and personal research and knowledge into appropriate sections of environmental documents.

- At least two years of full-time experience in research, writing, or teaching in American architectural history or restoration architecture with an academic institution, historical organization or agency, museum, or other professional institution; or
- Substantial contribution through research and publication to the body of scholarly knowledge in the field of American architectural history.

General Description:
Provides word processing support to technical and marketing staff in preparation of complex reports, proposals, form letters, mailing lists, and other documents, as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Inputs documents, including reports, correspondence, transmittals, agendas, and forms using appropriate
word processing software.
• Formats documents.
• Integrates text, tables, graphs, charts, and figures as necessary.
• Proofs own work for continuity, sentence structure, and accuracy
• Revises work as directed.
• Assembles documents for printing.
• Retrieves and prints computer or word processing-generated documents.
• Maintains document files and disk directories (electronic and hard copy)
• Reports to Facilities Manager to provide status reports and to coordinate efforts.
• Maintains frequent contact with document production coordinator to ensure timely completion.

Education:
• High school graduate; college degree or vocational training in associated field is preferred.
• MOUS Certification is desirable, but not required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Three to 5 years of experience in the production and formatting of large documents (200+ pages).
• Expert knowledge of creating, editing, clearing Word styles.
• Must know how to use Word’s automatic feature to make captions, table of contents, and list of figures.
• General familiarity working with files across a network; network configuration concepts (drives)
• Advanced to expert knowledge of page layouts and Word’s relevant features: margins, headers, footers, mirror margins, font types and related kerning and character spacing issues.
• Solid understanding of “review” feature, which includes using commenting, track changes, versions, printing forms thereof.
• Adept at handling autonumbered lists: bulleted, numbered, outline format.
• Skill at creating, editing, revising tables.
• Comfortability with working in various Word views: normal, print layout, outline, document map.
• Familiarity with using Word templates.
• Understanding how to use and edit Word’s proofing tools: spell and grammar check, purge styles tools.
• Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated facility with written and verbal business English, spelling,
grammar, and vocabulary.
• Knowledge of environmental consulting or building industry would be helpful.
• Typing speed - minimum 60 words per minute.
